Ime is a system in the Radch and the furthest system in Radch space from a provincial palace. The system contains multiple small stations and moons, including Ime Station. The system was formerly governed by a corrupt system governor who illegally produced ancillaries for the anti-reform faction of Anaander Mianaai. The crimes of the system governor were exposed by the mutiny at Ime, an event where upon first contact with the alien species the Rrrrrr, the Mercy of Sarrse soldier Nyseme Ptem refused orders to kill them and defected to them with the rest of her unit.

Corruption at Ime[]
The former system governor was extremely corrupt, having embezzled funds, taken bribes, ran protection rackets, sold assignments, controlled all travel permits and communications, and unjustly executed citizens of the system. The anti-reform faction of Anaander Mianaai had taken advantage of the corruption of the governor and remoteness of the system and used Ime to stockpile illegally-produced ancillaries in preparation for war against her pro-reform self. Under Mianaai's orders, the system governor forcibly made thousands of the system's citizens into ancillaries. Normally the station and ship AIs would have reported the governor's crimes, however Anaander Mianaai used her accesses to prevent them from doing so. At this time, Ime was patrolled by several warships whose captains were kept in line by the system governor by bribes and threats of execution. Many of these captains, including the captain of Mercy of Sarrse, were complicit in the governor's actions.
The mutiny at Ime[]
About five years before the destruction of Justice of Toren, an Rrrrrr ship gated into the system only a few hundred kilometers from the patrolling ship Mercy of Sarrse. After not responding to hails, the Rrrrrr ship was boarded by the human unit Mercy of Sarrse One Amaat. Upon boarding, One Amaat discovered that the ship was crewed by both humans and the previously-unknown alien species, the Rrrrrr. The unit leader Nyseme Ptem, Mercy of Sarrse One Amaat One, was then ordered by the captain of Sarrse to capture all suitable humans for use as ancillaries and to kill everyone else, including the aliens. Nyseme refused her orders and defected to the Rrrrrr along with the rest of One Amaat.
Fallout of the mutiny[]
The news of the mutiny spread very quickly and the system governor's actions were revealed to the Radch. The system governor was removed from her post and was most likely executed for her crimes. The captain of Mercy of Sarrse, as well as other complicit captains and system officials, likely met the same fate. Despite the governor's ancillary manufacturing ring being exposed, the Lord of the Radch's involvement was never discovered.
